Castries, Saint Lucia, January 23, 2026 – The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO), in collaboration with the Water Resources Management Agency (WRMA) and the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services, continues regular coordination to monitor the evolving dry season as conditions become more pronounced.
Recent assessments by water sector stakeholders indicate that Saint Lucia has entered the dry season under challenging climatic conditions. River flows at several catchments are already declining to levels more commonly observed later in the dry season, reflecting a persistent drying trend.
As of Thursday, January 22, levels at the John Compton Dam stood at approximately 332 feet, remaining below the spillway, while base flows across several watersheds supplying WASCO's abstraction points continue to trend below seasonal norms. Meteorological forecasts further indicate limited rainfall activity in the immediate period ahead. While these conditions do not currently constitute a water-related emergency, the agencies continue to coordinate closely, assessing conditions and guiding appropriate response measures to support management of the national water supply as the dry season progresses.
WASCO remains committed to keeping the public informed and encourages customers to continue practicing responsible water use such as rain water harvesting and conservation.
