The Green Climate Fund, through the Caribbean Development Bank, is funding a consultancy to support the capacity building and institutional strengthening of WASCO, enabling the integration of climate resilience Into water sector planning, development, and operations. The selected consultant, HR Wallingford (UK), is working alongside local and regional experts across various disciplines.
As part of this initiative, a comprehensive training programme has been developed for WASCO staff and key external stakeholders. On May 13th, 2025, participating employees attended an “Awareness Workshop on Gender-Specific Water Service Issues” at the Bay Gardens Marina Haven Hotel.
Key topics included “Gender Equality in Water Sector Operations” and an overview of existing legislation and regulations related to gender in Saint Lucia. The interactive session allowed participants to identify gender-related challenges in the water sector and propose practical solutions. The workshop was well received, with attendees gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of gender considerations in water services and sharing perspectives on how to address these issues effectively.
